Carley Dykstra of Andover, N.J., Tabbed as WPI Women's Student-Athlete of the Week
Dykstra became WPI's first All-American in the pole vault with a fourth-place clearance of 12-5.5 (3.80m) on the first day of the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. The senior made her first attempts at 3.45m, 3.70m, 3.75m and 3.80m, and the second attempt at 3.60m.

Antoine Harris of Southington, Conn., Named WPI Men's Student-Athlete of the Week
Harris reached the 200-meter dash finals at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, hosted at the Reggie Lewis Center, with a time of 21.87 on Friday. He went on to run in what proved to be the championship heat and posted a 22.13, which was good for seventh to secure All-America honors. Harris also competed in the 4x400-meter relay on Friday where the team placed 10th in a time of 3:20.45.

WPI Track & Field Collects Five All-Americas at NCAA Division III Championships
Carley Dykstra and Oliver Thomas finished fourth while Sydney Packard, Ryan Wittenberg and Antoine Harris placed seventh at this past weekend's championships in Boston. Katy Nippert and the men's 4x400m relay (Alex Rus, Harris, Nick Fleury an Ben Steeves) also competed for the Engineers.

Wittenberg, Ketchum & Chabot Earn USTFCCCA Regional Indoor Track & Field Awards
WPI senior Ryan Wittenberg, Assistant Coach Miles Ketchum and Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Brian Chabot have all been recognized for their efforts during the indoor portion of the track & field season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), as announced Wednesday. Wittenberg was named as the men's New England track athlete of the year while Ketchum was selected as the men's New England assistant coach of the year and Chabot was feted as the men's New England coach of the year. Earlier in the week, Wittenberg and eight other WPI student-athletes were lauded for placing in the top five in the region heading into this weekend's championships.

Curtis and Marsh Set to Represent Wrestling at NCAA Championships
Senior Michael Curtis and junior Tyler Marsh are headed the Berglund Center in Roanoke, VA for the 2019 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships. The two-day event begin Friday March 8th and is hosted by Ferrum College.

Three men and three women, as well as a men's relay, from the WPI Track & Field program have been invited to the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, hosted by UMass Boston at the Reggie Lewis Center on March 8-9.

Caraline Wood of Averill Park, N.Y., Honored as WPI Women's Student-Athlete of the Week
Wood batted .750 (6-for-8) with a pair of doubles, a home run and four RBI on the day as WPI opened up the 2019 campaign by knocking off Simmons, 3-1, and Bluffton (OH), 9-1, Sunday at the Sunkissed Games. In the opener against the Sharks, the senior was 2-for-3 with a double before going 4-for-5 in the nightcap versus the Beavers with a double, home run and four RBI.

Alexander Mondro of Westford, Mass., Selected as WPI Men's Student-Athlete of the Week
Mondro punched out 10 in six shutout innings in game two as WPI swept Penn State Fayette, 10-5, and 7-0, Sunday at the Russmatt Invitational. The rookie was sensational on his collegiate debut, allowing just two hits and four walks, before being relieved by Kyle Wood (Hauppauge, NY) who fanned three in an inning of work to complete the shutout.

Bauer, Besch and Medley Relays Earn Invites to 2019 NCAA DIII S&D Championships
Senior Jack Bauer and sophomore Clayton Besch earned individual invitations while the medley relays were also selected to participate in the 2019 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted by the ODAC and Greensboro Sports Commission March 20-23 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, NC.

WPI's Wisniewski Named NEWMAC MBB Defensive Player of the Year; Walker 2nd Team All-NEWMAC
WPI junior Jake Wisniewski was selected as the NEWMAC Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year and sophomore Reid Walker was named to the NEWMAC All-Conference second team, as voted upon by the league's head coaches following the regular season. Wisniewski was also tabbed as the team's NEWMAC All-Sportsmanship honoree.

Dykstra, Packard & Nippert Earn Titles as Women's Track & Field Eighth at DIII NE Champs
Williams won the team title with 140 points as MIT was second (87.5), Tufts was third (67), Middlebury was fourth (57) and Bowdoin was fifth (52). Rhode Island College and Wesleyan tied for sixth (48), and WPI (44.5) finished a half point ahead of Coast Guard (44).

Thomas Earns Gold as Men's Track & Field Places Third at DIII NE Championships
MIT earned the team crown with 164 points while Tufts was second (78) and WPI collected 67 points. Southern Maine (65.5) and Middlebury (64) rounded out the top five.

Jack Bauer of Cumberland, R.I., Named WPI Men's Student-Athlete of the Week
The 2019 NEWMAC Men's Swimmer of the Year set conference meet and open records, as well as, school records to lead the team to a third-place finish this past weekend. Nationally, the senior ranks first in the 100 back and second in the 200 back while the 400 medley relay is 10th, the 200 medley relay is 13th and the 800 free relay is 20th.

Molly Sykes of Falmouth, Mass., Named WPI Women's Student-Athlete of the Week
Sykes accounted for 48 individual points at the 2019 NEWMAC Championships this past weekend. The freshman appeared in three A finals, finishing sixth in the 200-yard IM (2:10.44), seventh in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:30.49) and eighth in the 400-yard IM (4:39.58). Sykes also contributed on the 800 free, 400 medley, 200 medley A relays.

Eddie Hay of Bangor, Pa., Honored as WPI Men's Student-Athlete of the Week
Hay was dominant on his way to silver at 157 at Sunday's NEWA Futures Tournament. The freshman amassed a late second period pin, a pair of tech falls by shutout and a narrow 8-7 win by decision before dropping the championship bout.

Katy Nippert of Salem, N.H., Selected as WPI Women's Student-Athlete of the Week
Nippert bettered her own record twice in the long jump with an 18-4 and then an 18-6.5 Saturday at Springfield. The first leap tied for 12th while the second is currently sixth on the NCAA Division III performance list. The sophomore also placed sixth at the meet with a time of 8.24 in the 60-meter dash finals after posting an 8.17 in the prelims.

Women's Cross Country Fifth in Division III as USTFCCCA Doles Out Academic Accolades
The WPI women's cross country program tied for fifth in Division III and eighth across all three NCAA divisions with a 3.78 GPA as both squads were named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Teams. Additionally five women and four men were recognized for their efforts at the NCAA Division III New England Championships and in the classroom.

Bedford's Ryan Wittenberg Named USTFCCCA Men's Division III National Athlete of the Week
Wittenberg continued his stellar senior year this past weekend at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University by becoming the fifth fastest performer with the seventh fastest performance in NCAA DIII history in the 800-meter run when he crossed the finish line in 1:49.89. It was quite the run for Wittenberg, who hadn't clocked a sub-1:52 in the 800m in his career.

Ryan Wittenberg of Bedford, N.H., Named WPI Men's Student-Athlete of the Week
Wittenberg became the fifth-fastest man in NCAA Division III history in the 800-meter run and followed up with the quickest split amongst the members of Saturday's WPI 4x400-meter relay entry at the BU Valentine Invitational. His 1:49.89 also tops the 2019 NCAA Division III performance list and rewrites the program record book while the relay time ranks 10th on the NCAA DIII leaderboard.

Alex Scariati of Scotch Plains, N.J., Tabbed as WPI Women's Student-Athlete of the Week
Scariati averaged 9.5 points and 6.5 rebounds to go with 10 assists and five steals in a 2-0 week. After establishing a new career-high of 13 points to go with six rebounds and three helpers versus Wheaton, the freshman notched six points, seven rebounds and a career-best seven assists at Mount Holyoke.

Logan O'Donnell of Fishkill, N.Y., Selected as WACBA Men's Rookie of the Week
O'Donnell averaged 9.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and a steal for the Engineers last week. After scoring four points and collecting a trio of caroms in 10 minutes against Clark University, the rookie netted a career-high 15 points to go with four boards in 20 minutes at Coast Guard.

Bailey Savage of Charlton, Mass., Honored as WACBA Women's Rookie of the Week
Savage shot 59.1 percent (13-22) from the field, including 57.1 (8-14) from beyond the arc, in a 1-1 week. After tying her career high of 15 points at Coast Guard, the rookie went off for 20 in a setback to Babson College. In 34 minutes against the NEWMAC-leading Beavers, Savage was 7-10 (70%) and 5-8 (62.5%) with five 3-pointers.

Katherine Pawlak of Westford, Mass., Selected as NEWMAC Women's Swimmer of the Week
Pawlak was dominant with four individual victories and was part of three relay triumphs at the third annual Tech Sprints. The freshman touched the wall first in the 25-yard freestyle (11.30), 25-yard butterfly (12.40), 50-yard freestyle (24.81) and 100-yard freestyle (46.29). Her 24.74 in the 50 free trials ranked third in the NEWMAClast week. The 100-yard medley relay (46.29) was the top time in the conference last week while the 200-yard medley relay (1:52.37) ranked second. The 100-yard freestyle squad, meanwhile, collaborated for a winning 46.29.

Alex Gallant of Lakeville, Mass., Selected as WPI Men's Student-Athlete of the Week
Gallant posted a trio of top 3 finishes as the Engineers hosted the third annual Tech Sprints. In addition to the second fastest 100-yard IM (53.21) in Division III last week, the senior clocked a 12.56 in the 25-yard breaststroke and a 1:00.01 in the 100-yard breaststroke. He was also part of a pair of B final triumphs with a 2:00.59 in the 200-yard IM and a combined 45.50 in the 100-yard medley relay
