Local Residents Receive Degrees

Since the Class of 2020 was unable to receive diplomas in person this year, they instead received personal commencement packages, mailed to their home, that that included their diplomas, commencement regalia, and other items to celebrate their successes, as well as a congratulatory video message from President Laurie Leshin.

West Warren's Ben Rickson Selected as WPI Men's Student-Athlete of the Week

Ben Rickson from the soccer team has been selected as the WPI Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, October 6th. Rickson netted his first two goals of the season, including the game-winner, as WPI rolled to a 3-0 NEWMAC triumph over Emerson on Saturday. The senior also anchored a defense that did not allow a goal in two games.

Fremont's Ali Gannon Grabs NEWMAC Field Hockey Defensive Athlete of the Week Accolades

Gannon only had to make four saves in a 1-0 triumph over Springfield Saturday. In addition to being the second win over the Pride in three seasons, the Engineers are currently one of seven teams to boast an undefeated record in Division III. Division I North Carolina and Division II West Chester are also without a loss as of Monday.

Casey rolled up 11 tackles (eight solo) with one for loss, a forced fumble and a 46-yard interception return in a 35-21 win at Springfield. The victory over the Pride is just the third all-time in the 36-game series for Engineers.

WPI's Connor Field, Sam Casey and Bryce Wade have swept the NEWMAC Football weekly awards for their efforts in a 35-21 win at Springfield on Saturday. Field was named as the offensive athlete of the week, Casey was lauded as the defensive athlete of the week, and Wade was feted as the special teams athlete of the week.

O'Sullivan, who has now earned a conference weekly honor each season thus far, enjoyed a 10 point week for the undefeated Engineers. After notching a pair of goals at Fitchburg State, the junior posted two goals and two assists at Wellesley.

Duxbury's Rufus Adams Earns Back-to-Back NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week Accolades (Sept. 23)

Adams stopped all eight shots he faced in 200 minutes of action. After halting four in a 1-0 win at Endicott, the junior went the distance in a double OT draw at Babson. The backline of Christopher Martenson, Ben Rickson, Mike Biando and Erik Herrera also helped the lead versus the Gulls stand. Saturday's shutout served as Adams' fourth of the season and 10th of his career.
