Field, Casey and Wade Secure Program's Second Sweep of NEWMAC Football Weekly Awards

WPI's Connor Field, Sam Casey and Bryce Wade have swept the NEWMAC Football weekly awards for their efforts in a 35-21 win at Springfield on Saturday. Field was named as the offensive athlete of the week, Casey was lauded as the defensive athlete of the week, and Wade was feted as the special teams athlete of the week.

Walpole's Abby O'Sullivan Scores NEWMAC Field Hockey Offensive Athlete of the Week Honors (Sept. 23)

O'Sullivan, who has now earned a conference weekly honor each season thus far, enjoyed a 10 point week for the undefeated Engineers. After notching a pair of goals at Fitchburg State, the junior posted two goals and two assists at Wellesley.

Duxbury's Rufus Adams Earns Back-to-Back NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week Accolades (Sept. 23)

Adams stopped all eight shots he faced in 200 minutes of action. After halting four in a 1-0 win at Endicott, the junior went the distance in a double OT draw at Babson. The backline of Christopher Martenson, Ben Rickson, Mike Biando and Erik Herrera also helped the lead versus the Gulls stand. Saturday's shutout served as Adams' fourth of the season and 10th of his career.

Andover's David Reynolds Selected as NEWMAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week (Sept. 09)

Reynolds debut was a memorable one as he placed third at the 6K UMass Minutemen Invitational that featured three Division I teams. His 19:25 was just a second behind the second place runner from UMass and three seconds behind the winner from Connecticut. As a team, WPI bested Sacred Heart to take third.

WPI seniors Kristen McCrea and Mandy St. Germain swept the NEWMAC Women's Soccer Weekly Awards, as announced Monday. McCrea was named as the offensive athlete of the week while St. Germain was tabbed as the defensive athlete of the week.

Duxbury's Rufus Adams Selected as NEWMAC Men's Soccer Co-Defensive Athlete of the Week (Sept. 03)

Adams made four stops in 90 minutes of play to help the Engineers in a 4-0 victory over city-rival Worcester State on Friday night (Aug. 30). It was his 13th career victory and eighth career clean sheet. He shared the honor with Babson senior Steven Heintzelman (Middleton, Mass.) who also tallied four saves on Friday.

Sam Casey of the football team has been named as the WPI Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 29. Casey rolled up 10 tackles (seven solo) with one for loss and added a 46-yard interception return in a 35-21 win at Springfield.

Carly Cidado from the field hockey team has been tabbed as the WPI Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 29. Cidado, who is nationally-ranked in goals and points per game, netted a hat-trick to key a 6-0 win Friday over Becker.

Hudson's Amanda Wetmore Selected as WPI Women's Student-Athlete of the Week (Sept. 23)

Amanda Wetmore from the volleyball team has been selected as the WPI Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 22nd. Wetmore tallied 15 kills and five service aces as WPI defeated Springfield, 3-1, Saturday in a NEWMAC volleyball clash inside Blake Arena. It was the Engineers (5-5) first win over the Pride (9-4) since a 3-0 decision on October 23, 2012.

Andover's David Reynolds Honored as WPI Men's Student-Athlete of the Week (Sept. 23)

David Reynolds of the cross country team has been honored as the WPI Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 22nd. Reynolds finished third to lead the Engineers to the 47th annual UMass Dartmouth Invitational title on Saturday. One of two Boynton Hillers in the top 10, Reynolds' five-mile time of 25:10.80 was .26 off of second place.

Andover's Colleen Mullins Named WPI Women's Student-Athlete of the Week (Sept. 16)

Colleen Mullins of the volleyball team has been named as the WPI Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 15th. Mullins hit a blistering .533 in the Engineers 2019 Harrington Auditorium debut versus Elms. The senior, who only needed to play in two sets, finished with eight kills in 15 attempts and was joined with no errors by fellow co-captain Abbie Gilbert, and Sarah Kwatinetz.

Modesto's Bryce Wade Tabbed as WPI Men's Student-Athlete of the Week (Sept. 16)

Bryce Wade from the football team has been tabbed as the WPI Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 15th. Wade connected on two field goals, including the game winner from 26 yards out with 3:52 left, to lift WPI (2-0) to a 6-3 win over No. 19 RPI to capture the Transit Trophy for the first time since 2016. In addition to his season-best boot, the junior added a 25-yarder to get the Crimson and Gray on the board first with 4:24 left in the initial period.

Colchester's Leah Beauton Honored as WPI Women's Student-Athlete of the Week (Sept. 09)

Leah Beauton from the soccer team has been honored as the WPI Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 8th. Beauton bookended a trio of goals in a span of 4:13 as the WPI women's soccer team earned its first win over Trinity in the four-year history of the series with a 3-2 triumph Sunday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.

Granby's Connor Field Selected as WPI Men's Student-Athlete of the Week (Sept. 09)

Connor Field of the football team has been selected as the WPI Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 8th. Field rolled up a career-high 117 yards and tied his career-best of two touchdowns as WPI defeated city rival Worcester State Friday night. Both led or tied for the NEWMAC best in Week 1.

Abby O'Sullivan of the field hockey team has been tabbed as the WPI Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 1st. O'Sullivan had a stick in all three goals Friday night's 3-0 shutout at Nichols. After finding the back of the cage in the first and second period, O'Sullivan assisted on the final tally in the fourth.

Mark Calnan from the soccer team has been named as the WPI Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 1st. Calnan scored the initial goal in a 4-0 triumph over city-rival Worcester State Friday night. Of his 10 career markers, eight have been game-winners.

CRCA National Scholar-Athletes met all eligibility rules as defined by her institution, had a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher through the fall semester/quarter for the current competition year. was in her second, third or fourth year of eligibility, rowed in her institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boat(s) for a minimum of 75% of the current spring races or racing in a regional conference event and the head coach was a member in good standing of the CRCA as of May 1, 2019.

Five From Swimming & Diving Lauded as Scholar All-Americans; Both Teams Recognized

Individual Scholar All-Americans have achieved both academic and athletic excellence over the semester/quarter coinciding with their respective national championships. In order to be selected, student-athletes must have achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.50 or higher, be in good standing with their team and institution throughout the entire season, be nominated by a current CSCAA member or their designee by the entry deadline, and have participated at their respective national championship (First Team) or achieved an individual "B" time standard (Honorable Mention).

WPI recent graduate Kinsey McNamara has been selected to compete for the United States at the upcoming 2019 World Rowing Under 23 Championships July 24-28 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, FL. Women's Rowing's Hovermale and McNamara Named CRCA All-Americans

Honorees must meet all eligibility rules as defined by her institution: the student-athlete must have participated in at least 75% of all races during the current season (all races before and including May 20, 2019), must have rowed at least 75% of the season's races in the varsity boat (all race before and including May 20, 2019), must be nominated by her institution, and the head coach of the must be a member in good standing of the CRCA.

The WPI athletic department recently honored all of its 20 varsity teams which encompasses nearly 600 student-athletes at its annual awards banquet. During the festivities, 11 student-athletes were presented with major awards. These accolades highlight some of the best varsity student-athletes at WPI who excel both in the classroom and in their respective sports.
