Packard placed fifth at the Bates Super XC Shootout, which included No. 11 Tufts, No. 25 Bates and Wellesley, with a time of 18:49.2. The performance was the track & field All-American's cross country debut.

Amanda Wetmore of Hudson, N.H., Honored as WPI Women's Student-Athlete of the Week

Wetmore, bolstered by a .800 performance at Babson, hit .548 in conference play and .301 overall in a 1-2 week. Nationally, the freshman became the Division III leader with a .548 percentage after Tuesday's match. It is also the second-best in all three divisions.

WPI senior Dereck Pacheco and junior Spencer Herrington each claimed one of the first-ever NEWMAC Football Athlete of the Week honors which were handed out on September 5th. Pacheco was tabbed as the defensive athlete of the week while Herrington claimed special teams athlete of the week accolades. Springfield senior Jake Eglintine (Ballston Spa, NY) took home offensive athlete of the week laurels.

WPI seniors Audrey Allen and Jennifer Golden earned their third Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athlete nod while a total of 11 student-athletes were also recognized with the academic honor. All honorees were previously named to the NEWMAC and NIRC All-Academic teams.
