Sean McAllen of Prospect, Conn., Collects NEWMAC Football Offensive Athlete of the Week Laurels

McAllen rushed for 160 yards on just 16 carries with three touchdowns and caught three passes for 25 yards and a score in the first half as WPI went on road and shutout Becker 45-0 in its final non-conference game of the 2018 regular season. The junior, who recently moved into seventh place in the WPI record book with 2,319 rushing yards, handed in his 10th career 100+ yard performance.

Packard led WPI to a fourth-place team finish with a second-place time of 18:14.7 in the women's 5K. In all, the race featured 45 scoring teams with at least one representative from each NCAA division.

Michael Brady of Medway, Mass., Named NEWMAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

Brady, who guided WPI to a second-place team finish, was one of two NEWMAC student-athletes in the top 10. His eighth-place time of 25:16.3 was over two seconds quicker than the next conference harrier. Of the 41 teams across all three divisions, only Division II Southern New Hampshire amassed a lower score.

Ciliberto knocked home a free kick 1:38 into overtime Wednesday to lift WPI to its first win over Brandeis since 2009, and at home since 2006. It was his third goal of the year and third career game-winning goal.

Kristen McCrea of Weymouth, Mass., Nets NEWMAC Women's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week Accolades

McCrea notched a pair of goals, including a game-winner, and three assists in the Engineers 3-0 week. The junior assisted on both goals in a 2-0 result Tuesday at Rhode Island College and tallied another Friday at Fitchburg State. On Sunday, McCrea netted the first (GWG) and third in a 4-0 win versus Framingham State.

The sophomore, who has scored in all three games thus far, netted the game-winner Tuesday at Simmons and added another Saturday at Elms. O'Sullivan is currently tied for fifth in the NEWMAC with four goals on the year.

The sophomore goalkeeper stopped all five shots that came his way in 154:37 of action. He began with a 1-0 complete-game shutout Wednesday night at Wesleyan and shared credit Saturday as the Engineers defeated Mass. Maritime 5-0.

The junior made his first collegiate start a memorable one as he racked up 335 yards and three touchdowns on 20-of-23 passing, as well as 43 yards on five keeps, and zero interceptions for an efficiency rating of 252.3 at Anna Maria.

Sarah Kwatinetz of Seattle, Wash., Honored as WPI Female Student-Athlete of the Week (Sept. 2)

The sophomore boasted a .545 hitting percentage with 13 kills in the Worcester City Tournament opener versus Worcester State and added eight more versus Husson en route to All-Tournament honors. In all, Kwatinetz hit an eye-popping .488 with 24 kills in the first three matches of the season.

Women's Rowing Hauls in Regional and National Academic Awards

Junior Sarah St. Pierre and sophomore Ally Sichler earned the team's NERC All-Scholar award while St. Pierre also headlined a dozen WPI women's rowing student-athletes that repeated as an NIRC All-Academic Team honoree, as announced by USRowing. In all, 16 members of the team were recognized following the May regattas. Of the 16, nine were also lauded by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA).

Pietrowicz, Fox and Senior Quartet Headline Men's Rowing's NIRC and NERC Accolades

Sophomore Brandon Fox claimed the WPI men's rowing NERC All-Scholar award and junior Nathan Pietrowicz was named to the NIRC All-Stewards Team following the May regattas. Additionally, 15 members of the team, including Fox and four three-time honorees, earned NIRC All-Academic Team accolades.

WPI junior Jack Bauer was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Division III At-Large First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He is the first WPI male student-athlete to earn a spot on a first team since Men's Basketball's Matt Carr in 2012.

Women's Rowing Takes Home Bronze at the NCAA Division III Championships

WPI punctuated it's best season in school history by finishing third in the varsity eight race and as a team at the NCAA Division III Women's Rowing Championships at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, FL. The team finish is the highest of any NCAA team sport in school history.
