Graduation

A total of 1,193 degrees (794 bachelor's degrees, 381 master's, and 18 PhDs) were awarded during the university's commencement ceremony on May 17, 2014, which took place outdoors on the WPI quadrangle. Additionally, 381 degrees were awarded earlier this academic year.

WPI Student Cited for Achievement by Goldwater Scholarship Foundation

Goldwater Scholars have very impressive academic qualifications that have garnered the attention of prestigious post-graduate fellowship programs. Recent Goldwater Scholars have been awarded 80 Rhodes Scholarships, 117 Marshall Awards, 112 Churchill Scholarships, and numerous other distinguished fellowships such as the National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowships. Since its first award in 1989, the Foundation has bestowed 7,163 scholarships worth approximately 46 million dollars. The Trustees plan to award about three hundred scholarships for the 2015-2016 academic year.

Salisbury Prize

The Salisbury Prize was instituted in 1871 by Stephen Salisbury, a 19th century businessman and philanthropist who was one of the founders of WPI. Salisbury, who also served as President of the Board of Trustees, established the award to recognize outstanding members of the senior class "who have faithfully, industriously, and with distinguished attainment" completed all course and project requirements for the bachelor's degree.

Kranich Prize

The Kranich Prize is awarded annually, and it recognizes a science, engineering or management major who best integrates the humanities and arts into his or her undergraduate experience - including course work, independent projects, and extracurricular activities. Wilmer Kranich was a professor of Chemical Engineering who was active in the development of the WPI Plan, and who served as the Dean of Graduate studies for the university.
