Emily Doherty of Shrewsbury, Mass. Makes WPI Women's Soccer History Again With Third All-America Accolade of 2015

WPI senior Emily Doherty created another category for the record book as she became the first NSCAA Division III Scholar All-America, as announced late Thursday morning. The second teamer was also named to the ECAC Division III New England Women's Soccer All-Star first team earlier in the day. By virtue of being named an All-America, Doherty is also the program's first NSCAA Scholar All-East Region selection since Kristen Garza '11 collected third team accolades in 2009.

Nikolaki swept the diving events versus host Wesleyan and Tufts at the Cardinal Duals. The senior amassed 257.05 points in the 1-meter and accumulated 226.35 on the 3-meter board.

Junior Andrew Kelleher (Poughquag, NY) was named the NEWMAC Men's Swimmer of the Week while sophomore Randy Melanson (Attleboro, MA) was tabbed the NEWMAC Men's Diver of the Week and the 200-yard freestyle quartet of Andrew Bauer (Cumberland, RI), freshman Jack Bauer (Cumberland, RI), senior Alex Powers (North Scituate, RI) and senior Nathan Hughes (Arlington, VA) earned NEWMAC Men's Relay Team of the Week status.

He is the eighth Engineer to be recognized in the 11-year history of the award, and fifth under Head Coach Chris Robertson, joining Tim Grupp '14 in 2013, Ernie Mello '12 and John Perron '12 in 2011 and Tyler Lapierre '11 in 2010.

Price headlined the Engineers entries in the 60-meter dash at the season-opening Springfield Invitational with a second-place time of 8.05 and was .01 faster in the prelims to set the school record with an 8.04.

The sophomore broke WPI's two oldest records dating back to the 1970s while winning the 1650 freestyle (17:23.83 and 1000 freestyle: 10:29.58) and also set a new school standard in the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.43).

Emily Doherty of Shrewsbury, Mass., Becomes First WPI Woman to Earn NSCAA All-America Status

Senior forward Emily Doherty became the first National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III All-American in the 21-year history of the WPI women's soccer program. The local product landed on the third team after being tabbed an All-New England first teamer earlier in the week.

WPI forward Emily Doherty has added National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III All-New England First Team accolades to her growing collection of postseason awards. She is believed to be the program's second all-region selection by the organization and first since Manda Otterman '06 was tabbed as a third team goalkeeper in 2004.

Emily Doherty of Shrewsbury, Mass., Tabbed CoSIDA Division III Women's Soccer Academic All-America

Senior Emily Doherty (Shrewsbury, MA) has been named to the Capital One Division III Women's Soccer Academic All-America third team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). She becomes the 56th WPI student-athlete to earn the accolade in school history and the 36th in the last 10 years. Doherty is also the third honoree for the women's soccer program, joining Lynn Woroby '08 and Hailey Taylor '12 who were lauded in 2007 and 2010, respectively.

Freshman Jack Bauer and sophomore Randy Melanson claimed two of the three NEWMAC Men's Swimming and Diving weekly awards for their performances this past Saturday. Bauer was named the conference's swimmer of the week while Melanson was tabbed the co-diver of the week.
