Chelmsford's Kinsey McNamara Selected to Compete at 2019 World Rowing Under 23 Championships

WPI recent graduate Kinsey McNamara has been selected to compete for the United States at the upcoming 2019 World Rowing Under 23 Championships July 24-28 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, FL. Women's Rowing's Hovermale and McNamara Named CRCA All-Americans

Honorees must meet all eligibility rules as defined by her institution: the student-athlete must have participated in at least 75% of all races during the current season (all races before and including May 20, 2019), must have rowed at least 75% of the season's races in the varsity boat (all race before and including May 20, 2019), must be nominated by her institution, and the head coach of the must be a member in good standing of the CRCA.

WPI Athletics Announces 2018-19 Department Award Winners

The WPI athletic department recently honored all of its 20 varsity teams which encompasses nearly 600 student-athletes at its annual awards banquet. During the festivities, 11 student-athletes were presented with major awards. These accolades highlight some of the best varsity student-athletes at WPI who excel both in the classroom and in their respective sports.

Cumberland's Jack Bauer Collects Third Google Cloud Academic All-America Honor

The repeat first teamer is the only three-time selection on this year's 16-man first team and amongst the 46 on the entire scroll. The category includes fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming & diving, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling. Overall, it is the 75th CoSIDA Academic All-America selection in WPI history, 55th since 2006-07 and 20th since 2015-16.

WPI Women's Rowing Hauls in Silver at NCAA Division III Championships

The WPI varsity eight and second varsity eight each claimed silver medals as the Engineers rowed to a second place finish at the NCAA Division III Women's Rowing Championship hosted this weekend (May 31-June 1) by Indiana and the Indiana Sports Corporation at the Indianapolis Rowing Center at Eagle Creek Park.

Maynard's Sarah St. Pierre Wins Elite 90 Award For NCAA D-III Women's Rowing Championship

The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.

Averill Park's Caraline Wood Continues Softball's Google Cloud Academic All-America Streak

WPI recent graduate Caraline Wood was honored as the softball program's latest Google Cloud Academic All-America, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). It is the ninth accolade for the program, and the seventh in five years, while the second teamer is the seventh different student-athlete to be lauded.

WPI junior David Larson was named as a second team All-America by D3baseball.com. He is the third WPI honoree since the awards program began in 2007 and the first honoree since Alex Venditti in 2016. WPI Hall of Fame pitcher Conor Fahey collected accolades in 2009.

WPI Trio Earns Invite to NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Recent WPI graduates Carley Dykstra, Ryan Wittenberg and Antoine Harris will don the Crimson and Gray one more time as they have been invited to the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships being held May 23-25. This year's event, hosted by Mount Union and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, is being held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, OH. All three previously earned All-America honors in their respective events during the indoor season.

WPI's Caraline Wood has been named a semifinalist for the 2019 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division III Softball Player of Year award. The senior is just one of 25 players nationwide, and the only third baseman and representative of the New England, to make the most recent list.

After falling to Eastern Connecticut State in the double-elimination opener, WPI staved off elimination by defeating St. Joseph (CT) before being ousted by nationally-ranked Tufts.

WPI Softball claims NEWMAC Regular Season and Tournament Titles

Named Most Outstanding Player, sophomore Katie Martin pitched 13 innings and collected three victories, including a shutout, as WPI claimed its second NEWMAC tournament title in four years Saturday on Rooftop Field. After the Engineers walked off with a 3-2 victory in the first game of the day versus Wellesley they shutout MIT 2-0 to force the 'if necessary' game where the Crimson and Gray took the 5-4 triumph. Senior Renee LeClaire batted 3-for-3 with a double in the middle game while senior Caraline Wood was 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI and a pair of runs scored in the finale.

Rowing Quartet Earns NEWMAC All-Conference Honors

Following the NEWMAC Championship, Kinsey McNamara was honored as the NEWMAC Rower of the Year and Madison Healey was honored as the NEWMAC Coxswain of the Year. McNamara, a four time honoree, and Healey, who had been the second team coxswain in 2017 and 2018, were joined on the NEWMAC All-Conference first team by Barinelli and three-time selection Christine Hovermale.

Port Tobacco's David Larson Selected as NEWMAC Pitcher of the Week

Larson yielded one run on seven hits and two walks and struck out seven in the first 10 innings of the 18-inning 2-1 triumph over Springfield to help the Engineers secure the NEWMAC West title for the fourth time in five years.

Women's Rowing Captures Program's First NEWMAC Championship, Earns NCAA AQ

The WPI women's rowing varsity and second varsity eight won their races as the Engineers claimed the program's first NEWMAC Championship Saturday morning (April 26) on Lake Quinsigamond. In addition to snapping an eight-year reign by Wellesley, the Crimson and Gray earned an invitation to the NCAA Division III Championships May 31-June 1 in Indianapolis.
