Biney averaged 21 points, nine rebounds 4.7 assists and 4.3 steals per game while notching two double-doubles in a 2-1 week (the loss being in OT on the road at MIT, in which she played 42 minutes). The offensive nominee boasted 20 points, six boards and five assists versus Clark and narrowly missed her career-high with 27 points, 10 rebounds and four assists against Coast Guard. In Saturday's OT setback at MIT, Biney netted 16 points, 11 boards and five assists. The local product totaled 14 assists and 13 steals while limiting her turnovers to four in three games. Biney shot 55% from the field and led the team in nearly every statistical category in all three games.

Rodgers, who collected the conference award for the second time in as many seasons, paced the Engineers with an average of 18.5 points and eight rebounds, as well as 11 assists and four steals in a 2-0 week. He also clicked for 83.3 percent (10-of-12) free throw shooting at Wheaton. The senior also posted 19 points and seven rebounds versus the Lyons. He then logged game-highs of 18 points, nine rebounds and seven assists at Coast Guard.

Biney averaged 15 points and 6.5 rebounds with seven steals and four assists as the Engineers began their NEWMAC slate 2-0. The senior narrowly missed a double-double Wednesday with 12 points and nine rebounds versus Springfield before leading the way with 18 points and five steals, as well as four assists at Wheaton on Saturday afternoon.

Alyssa Paul of the basketball team has been tabbed as the WPI Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, January 7th. Paul was perfect in just 12 minutes in Saturday's win at Wheaton. The junior was 4-for-4 from the field, including 2-for-2 from downtown, and 2-for-2 at the charity stripe to average a point per minute. Paul is shooting 46.7 percent in a career-best eight games in 2017-18.

Brendan Marion from the wrestling team has been named as the WPI Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, January 7th. A triple winner at 165 on Saturday, Marion began the day with an 11-3 major decision versus Roger Williams. He then earned a 9-4 decision over his opponent from Trinity before closing out with a pin in just 2:48 against his Wesleyan foe. The rookie is 15-3 overall, and 7-2 in dual meet competition, with seven pins.

Jake Needleman from the basketball team has been named as the WPI Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, December 31st. Needleman averaged 13.5 points on 9-of-14 shooting (64.3%) to go with five rebounds, four assists and a steal en route to E.M. "Mose" Hole/Wooster Kiwanis Classic All-Tournament team honors. He began with 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting (83.3%), including 80% (4-of-5) from beyond the arc, against host Wooster. He then scored 12 points and filled the stat sheet with two rebounds, three assists and a steal in the Engineers win versus Alma (MI).

Stasha Greenalch of the basketball team has been tabbed as the WPI Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, December 31st. Greenalch averaged 9.5 points 4.3 rebounds, 8.75 assists and 3.25 steals in the four games since finals, Just in the past two games, the senior doled out 22 helpers including a double-double versus New Paltz (11 points, 10 assists) and a career-best dozen against Ramapo on New Year's Eve. Greenalch posted a season-best 15 points to go with six assists and six steals versus Wells in the Daytona Beach Shootout opener.

WPI senior Ama Biney has been honored by NEWMAC, NEWBA and WACBA, as recently announced by the organizations. Biney was tabbed as the NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week and was named to the NEWBA Honor Roll. She was then selected as the WACBA Women's Co-Player of the Week.

WPI football seniors Lou Garcia and Dereck Pacheco made the trip to Doug Shaw Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina December 16 for the 2017 DIII Senior Classic. Sean Murphy '16 represented the Engineers at the event two years ago.

WORCESTER - Seniors Sophie Gomarlo and Karina Larson, and sophomore Kristen McCrea earned New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) All-New England status. Gomarlo and McCrea were named to the second team while Larson highlighted the third team.

The second team honoree is the first volleyball student-athlete to be recognized since Stacey Cotton (first team) in 1989. It is the fourth time a WPI volleyball player has been chosen as Cotton (third team), and Kathleen Murray (second team), were lauded in 1988.

Westwood, MA --- Six members of the WPI men's swimming & diving team have garnered weekly awards from the NEWMAC. Sophomore Dave Chen was tabbed as the swimmer of the week while senior Randy Melanson was named the diver of the week. The 400-yard freestyle foursome of junior Jack Bauer, freshman Tim McDonald, junior Jackson Perry and senior Karim Elsayed was feted as the relay team of the week.

Berner claimed the 100-yard freestyle for the Engineers, who defeated Wesleyan and fell to No. 3 Williams and Tufts, with a time of 53.86. Prior to that the rookie was third in the 200 (1:58.64) and fourth in the 50-yard butterfly (26.78).

Curtis racked up a dozen points during three matches Saturday at the Northeast Duals. He began with a pin against versus Eugene Latson from Niagara Community College and followed up with a 3-0 decision over Lantze Lange of Oneonta State. The junior then added to the Boynton Hillers lead with an 11-7 decision against Chance O`Mahony in the team's win over No. 16 Cortland State.

Grant was one of the Engineers winners in a competitive triple dual Saturday versus No. 3 Williams, Tufts and host Wesleyan. The senior touched the wall first in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:08.09. Grant also took fifth in the 200 (2:31.76) and sixth in the 50 (32.10).

Marion helped lead WPI to the team championship at the RIT Invitational as he won the 165-pound weight class. The rookie won a match by tech fall and decision to reach the semifinals. In the semis Marion defeated Vittorio Santillo of John Carroll by a 17-9 major decision before pinning Andrew Gombas of Scranton 52 seconds into the title bout.

In all, nine Engineers have now earned 10 regional accolades from the group as Herrington follows in the footsteps of Blaine Bursey, a third team kicker a year ago, and joins first teamers Mike Butler (2007), Ernie Mello (2011), Brian Murtagh (2016), also a third teamer in 2015, and Andrew Sides (2008).

The WPI men's soccer team was represented by three of the squads four captains, Connor Hoeckele, Brendan Nemes and Nate Peterson at the NEISL All-Star Game, which was played on November 26th at Brandeis.

WPI sophomore Sean McAllen has been named as a Worcester Area Football Association Co-Offensive Player of the Year. Led by three-time first team honoree senior Dereck Pacheco, 11 others were also recognized as part of the 27th annual Steve "Merc" Morris All-Star Team, as selected by the sports information directors within Worcester Country who sponsor football.

Berner consistently led the Engineers during the three-day Gompei Invitational. On Friday the newcomer placed third in the 100-yard butterfly and followed up with a personal-best 26.66 to finish third in the 50-yard butterfly. Berner then took fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a 53.60, nearly half a second quicker than her trial time.

Bauer, who claimed the 100-yard backstroke with a B cut time Saturday, secured the 200-yard backstroke with a B cut and school record 1:49.43. On Friday, Bauer teamed with sophomore Dave Chen, junior Jackson Perry, and graduate student Erick Burgwardt to hand in a B cut in the 200-yard medley relay.

WPI senior Brendan Nemes and sophomore Paul Beatty were named to the United Soccer Coaches (formerly the NSCAA) NCAA Division III Men's All-New England third team. The pair were previously named NEWMAC All-Conference First Team honorees.

The repeat NEWMAC All-Conference first team honoree finished fifth in goals (nine) and points (23), and sixth in assists (five) on the year. The sophomore also ranked seventh with four goals during the NEWMAC regular season, including both markers in a 2-0 victory at Smith. McCrea scored twice at Framingham State as well to go with a goal and an assist versus UMass Dartmouth, at Trinity, versus Roger Williams and at Mount Holyoke.

WPI senior Ama Biney has been distinguished as the first NEWMAC basketball student-athlete to be named as the lone offensive and defensive athlete of the week for the same reporting period. The guard was also named the WPI Women's Student-Athlete of the Week, as well as the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Player of the Week..

McAllen, the Liberty League Rookie of the Year and All-Conference second team member in 2016, owns the Engineers single season rushing record with 1,368 yards, currently the second-best total in the NEWMAC. He is also second in yards per game (124.4), rushing touchdowns (15) and third in yards per rush (5.7). McAllen eclipsed 100 yards seven times with a career-high 246 in the opener versus Anna Maria to go with 237 yards and two scores as a receiver.

In the opening bout of WPI's trimiph over Western New England Tuesday night, Zogby surged ahead 10-9 with a takedown with about 30 seconds remaining in the third period before his opponent forced overtime by getting a point just before the final buzzer. Zogby took home the 12-10 victory with a takedown just 13 seconds into SV 1 to secure his second dual win in as many tries this season.
