Nina Murphy-Cook of Roseville, Calif., Honored as WPI Women's Student-Athlete of the Week
The senior, who finished the week with 162 career stolen bases, took over the top spot as the active leader across all three NCAA divisions and moved into third place all-time in Division III during Thursday's twinbill at Clark. Murphy-Cook also batted .560 (14-for-25) with a double, three RBI and 11 runs scored.

Ryan Tropeano of Pembroke, Mass., Selected as WPI Men's Student-Athlete of the Week
The junior batted 4-for-4 and drove in a pair as part of a five-run seventh inning that separated the Engineers and Coast Guard Friday afternoon. In all, Tropeano was 10-for-18 (.556) with six RBI, two runs and 11 total bases on the week.

Caraline Wood of Averill Park, N.Y., Named NEWMAC Softball Athlete of the Week
Wood, the fourth different Engineer to claim the award this season, returned to the lineup and batted .714 (5-for-7) with a pair of doubles Saturday, including 3-for-3 and the game-winning RBI hit in game two, as the Engineers swept No. 20 Babson. The junior also represented the Boynton Hillers initial go-ahead run in the 3-2 triumph. The Engineers have now won three of four games versus nationally-ranked opponents.

Lambert, who was also tabbed as the WPI Women's Student-Athlete of the Week, won her first high jump competition of the season and ended the weekend atop the NEWMAC performance list with a clearance of 5-2.5. It is the senior's ninth career win and third in as many trips to the Amherst Spring Fling. The victory also helped the Engineers take the team crown for the third consecutive season.

Rowing Varsity Eight Tabbed as WPI Student-Athlete of the Week
The Varsity Eight from the rowing team has been tabbed as the WPI Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, April 8th. Nathan Pietrowicz, Jeremy Hemingway, Michael Eaton, Ben Thornton, Trevor Dowd, Frank Campanelli, Isaac Beeman, Lorenzo Dube and coxswain Kenedi Heather bested Wesleyan by less than a second to retain the Class of 2003 Cup on Saturday. The crew then raced as two fours, with Heather hot-seating, to defeat Bates, Hamilton and Conn College in both races. Bates and WPI will battle again next weekend in the eights.

Renee LeClaire of Merrimack, N.H., Honored as NEWMAC Softball Athlete of the Week
LeClaire batted .529 with a slugging percentage of .765 and an on-base percentage of .550, as well as three extra base hits, two doubles, and one triple in a 5-1 week. The junior went 2-for-3 in the Engineers game one triumph versus No. 12 Amherst and went on to go a combined 5-for-6 in Saturday's twinbill against Wheaton. LeClaire helped the Engineers to two league sweeps over Springfield and Wheaton while boasting a perfect fielding percentage at first base with 45 putouts and six assists.

Steven D'Agostino of Worcester, Mass., Selected as NEWMAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
D'Agostino did not allow an earned run on three hits and one walk, and struck out a career-high 11 batters in game one Saturday versus Emerson. The lefty also held the Lions to .120 in the seven inning triumph.

Kelsey Saucier of Worcester, Mass., Selected as WPI Women's Student-Athlete of the Week
Saucier earned three of the Engineers five wins, including a triumph over No. 12 Amherst. The senior was also key in the openers versus Springfield and Wheaton. In 18 1/3 innings, Saucier allowed just six runs while scattering 19 hits and registering six strikeouts en route to improving to 6-1 on the season.

Alex Rus of Newton, Mass., Honored as WPI Men's Student-Athlete of the Week
Rus captured the 400 meter dash title at the Tufts Snowflake Classic on Saturday by turning in a time of 49.79. His performance is the best so far this season in the NEWMAC and led a WPI medal sweep in the event as Warren Staver and Paul-Henry Schoenhagen placed second (49.80) and third (50.37).

Guzzi and Garver Guide Field Hockey to 13th Consecutive NFHCA Academic Team Award
The Division III Scholars of Distinction program recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2017-18 academic year while the National Academic Squad program recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2017-18 academic year. The Division III National Academic Team Award, meanwhile, recognizes those programs that earned a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the Fall Semester of the 2017-18 academic year.

Steven D'Agostino of Worcester, Mass., Named WPI Men's Student-Athlete of the Week
D'Agostino allowed only two earned runs and struck out 15 as he went 1-1 for the Engineers. The southpaw had a strong start to the week with a career-high nine strikeouts in the 8-1 win versus Mass. Maritime. He went on to fan six MIT batters and finish the week with a 1.86 ERA.

New England Wrestling Association Announces 2017-18 Awards
Brendan Marion was tabbed as the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Co-Rookie of the Year while head coach Steve Hall '87 took home the association's Coach of the Year award. Tyler Marsh added to the Crimson and Gray honors by being selected the All-NEWA first team while six others drew honorable mention praise from the conference and 13 were named to the all-academic team.

WORCESTER - Women's Basketball seniors Ama Biney and Madison Beck, as well as Men's Basketball senior Chris Rodgers have garnered postseason honors from the Worcester Area College Basketball Association, as announced Wednesday in the Telegram & Gazette. Voters included sports information directors or primary contacts from each of the nine NCAA schools in Worcester County, including Division I Holy Cross and Division II Assumption, as well as members of the local media. Biney repeated as a first team selection while Beck and Rodgers landed on their respective second teams.

May led the Engineers with a .500 batting average and 13 RBI during the teams trip to Florida. The senior also totaled 22 bases, 12 runs scored, three walks and two stolen bases, as well as a double, triple and home run. After going 2-for-3 versus Heidelberg (OH), May collected multiple hits in the final six games of the trip. The run was highlighted by a 3-for-4 performance against Bluffton (OH), three RBI versus Centenary (NJ) and both stolen bases opposite Simmons.

Tyrone Patterson of Upper Marlboro, Md., Selected as WPI Men's Student-Athlete of the Week
Patterson launched the game-ending home run Thursday as the Engineers defeated Brandeis 12-9 in the Crimson and Gray's home opener at the New England Baseball Complex. He finished 2-for-5 (double, homerun) with a walk, three RBI and two runs scored. Defensively, the sophomore was part of an inning-ending 6-4-3 double play.

Lindner had a breakout week for the Engineers. The catcher batted a team-best .440 to go with a .760 slugging and .467 on-base percentage while totaling 12 RBI, four extra base hits - including a pair of home runs - as well as three walks and two sacrifice flies. Lindner began the season with a 2-for-3 game versus Coe and went 2-for-4 the next day against Gwynedd Mercy. He later homered and drove in two runs in each end of a doubleheader with Anna Maria and went 3-for-4 in the nightcap versus the AMCATS.

It is Packard's second All-America nod and the 11th for head coach Brian Chabot. Like last year's outdoor championship, Packard was the top finisher from New England.

David Larson of Port Tobacco, Md., Named NEWMAC Baseball Athlete of the Week
Larson batted .355 with 15 RBI, 10 extra base hits, 10 runs scored, and five home runs while producing a .939 fielding percentage in addition to claiming a win on the mound during the Engineers first week of action. The sophomore was 3-for-5 with a walk, double, home run, two RBI and three runs scored while scattering four hits and striking out three over 6 1/3 to earn the win versus Gwynedd Mercy. He also had a pair of hits in the nightcaps versus Coe and Rhode Island College and cleared the fence in both games on March 6 (Gwynedd Mercy, DeSales) and again on March 7 (RIC). His final home run was in the finale against St. Joseph's (ME).

Zogby, Lind, Marsh, Marion Honored by NWCA as Scholar All-Americans
Nominees must have at least a 3.2 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) for the previous full academic year. Transfers and freshmen are eligible if they've been in residence at their current institution beginning in the fall of 2017. On the competition side, wrestlers much be a national qualifier in 2017-18 and have a minimum win percentage of at least .500. Additionally, wrestlers can also be considered if they placed in the top six at their respective regional tournament, a win percentage of .500 or better and competed in half of the institution's scheduled competition in NCAA championship events. A wrestler can also be considered if they have a win percentage of .670 or better and competed in half of the institution's scheduled NCAA events.

Tyler Marsh of Upper Black Eddy, Pa., Competes at NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships
Tyler Marsh made his debut on the national stage on Friday, taking part in the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships hosted by Baldwin Wallace in Cleveland, Ohio. The sophomore, who finished second at the Northeast Regional hosted by WPI the last weekend in February was one of 18 competitors in the 157-pound weight class.
