Worcester Polytechnic Institute Announces Ana Dede Named to Fall 2009 Dean's List

2010 Feb 18

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) has announced that Ana Dede, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harillo Dede of Worcester, MA, a freshman majoring in Biology and Biotechnology, was named to the university's Dean's List for academic excellence for the fall 2009 semester.

A total of 959 undergraduate students achieved the criteria required for WPI's fall 2009 Dean's List. The criteria for the WPI Dean's List differ from most other universities as WPI does not compute a grade point average (GPA). Instead, WPI defines the Dean's List by the amount of work completed at the A level in courses and projects.

"WPI is home to some of this nation's brightest students," said Provost and Senior Vice President John Orr. "Whether studying science, engineering, math, business, or the humanities, they are committed to obtaining a deep understanding of fundamental concepts and also to putting those concepts into action, while developing broadly as adults in today's complex society. We are exceptionally proud of these young men and women, and we applaud their commitment to excellence."
