Tim Petri of Eksjo, Sweden, Named WPI Men's Student-Athlete of the Week

Tim Petri from the swimming & diving team has been named as the WPI Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, December 11th.

Petri won three events, broke two of his own records and bettered a B cut as No. 25 WP defeated host Wesleyan and No. 18 Tufts, and fell to No. 9 Williams this past Saturday. Petri began by cutting .26 off his 50-yard breaststroke record with a 26.07. He then led a trio of Engineers to a 1-2-3 finish and broke his own record in the 100 with a B cut time of 56.49. Petri capped it off with another B cut performance in the 200 with a 2:04.58, just a tenth slower than at the Gompei Invitational which saw the international product win the 100- and 200-yard breaststrokes trials with record-setting and B cut times of 56.52 and 2:04.48 before turning in gold-medal times of 56.80 and 2:04.63 in the finals.
