Sydney Packard of Georgetown, Mass., Pockets NEWMAC Women's Track Weekly Honor

WPI freshman Sydney Packard has earned NEWMAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week laurels.

Packard, who turned in a NEWMAC-best 1,500m time last week, won the 800-meter run with a new school record time of 2:13.92 during the elite distance portion of the Conn College Silfen Invitational Friday night. Her time, which qualifies for the DIII New England and NEICAAA Championships, sits atop the NEWMAC performance list and is 12th in Division III.

The track & field teams head to Springfield on Saturday.
