Sydney Packard of Georgetown, Mass., Excels at NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships

2018 Mar 12

Sophomore Sydney Packard handed in the 10th-fastest time in Division III history en route to being named an All-America in the 800-meter run at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships Saturday.

Packard's time of 2:09.10 secured third place in the final and was over a second quicker than her previous school record time of 2:10.38. It is the sophomore's second All-America nod and the 11th for head coach Brian Chabot. Like last year's outdoor championship, Packard was the top finisher from New England.

Ohio Northern's Emily Richards repeated as the 800m champion approximately 45 minutes after earning the mile crown while Washington University of St. Louis' Annalise Wagner took second.

Packard and senior Lea Strangio will contest the 800m Saturday at the Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Invitational.
