Spencer Herrington of Clearfield, Pa., Scores NEWMAC Football Special Teams Athlete of the Week Accolades

WPI junior Spencer Herrington has been selected as the NEWMAC Football Special Teams Athlete of the Week.

Herrington, who collected the weekly award for the second time this season, accounted for just over a quarter of WPI's scoring in a 41-7 home triumph vs Merchant Marine Saturday. He went 5-for-5 on extra point attempts and drilled a 35- and a 36-yard field goal for the Engineers. Through seven games, the junior is 8-for-9 in field goals and 27-for-27 in PATs for a total of 51 points. Herrington also booted eight punts, including a pair that landed inside the 20.

WPI (5-2, 3-1) travels to MIT (6-1, 4-0) Saturday for the first meeting between the programs under the NEWMAC banner. Kickoff is slated for noon in Steinbrenner Stadium.
