Nathan Martel of Steep Falls, Maine Collects CoSIDA Academic All-District I Laurels

WPI Football's Nathan Martel was voted CoSIDA Academic All-District I by the sports information directors from Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.

Martel, a two-year starter and four-year contributor on the defensive line, sports a 3.83 GPA in chemical engineering. The senior was named the 2014 Robert Pritchard Award as the top lineman for his performance in the Homecoming win versus Union. Heading into the season finale, Martel has amassed 19 tackles (14 solo) with 4.5 tackles for loss, including 2.5 sacks, on the year.

The three-time Liberty League All-Academic honoree helped create environmental education programs in rural schools this past spring in Namibia for his IQP. For his MQP, he is helping design a micro-lithium ion battery. Martel, a material science minor, is a also an All-New England Track & Field thrower and a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon.
