Lindsay Gurska of Revere, Mass., Tabbed as NEWMAC Softball Player of the Week (Mar. 28)

2016 Apr 5

WPI junior Lindsay Gurska has been tabbed as the NEWMAC Softball Player of the Week for the week ending March 27th. MIT senior Alexandra Marshall was named the conference's pitcher of the week.

Gurska, who also took home the honor last year (April 13) and was named the WPI Women's Student-Athlete of the Week earlier in the day, batted an eye-popping .615 (8-for-13) with five runs scored as the Engineers won three of four last week. The junior catcher had a hit in all four contests and also was on the receiving end of Kelsey Saucier's no-hitter against Fitchburg State on Wednesday. In Saturday's conference-opening doubleheader versus Wheaton, Gurska broke a scoreless game with a homer in the bottom of the fourth in WPI's 5-1 victory in game one before batting a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs scored in the nightcap.
