Lea Strangio of Watertown, Mass., Claims NEWMAC Women's Track & Field Weekly Award

Lea Strangio earned recognition from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference for the week ending April 3rd.

Sophomore Lea Strangio and the WPI 4x100-meter relay team claimed NEWMAC track & field weekly accolades for their part in capturing the team title at the Coast Guard Spring Invitational on Saturday.

Strangio struck gold and qualified for the New England DIII and ECAC DIII Championships in the 800-meter run (2:19.71). She later teamed with freshman Katie Nugent, senior Julie Tevenan and sophomore Maggie LaRoche to win the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 4:08.45.

Freshman Michelle Gencorelli, senior Liz Pellegrini, senior Alex Price and sophomore Sara Velleca won the 4x100-meter relay in a time of 49.06. Their time, as of Monday morning, is 15th in Division III.
