Laura Pumphrey of East Hampton, Conn., Honored for Athletics and Academics by USTFCCCA

Laura Pumphrey was one of ten WPI student-athletes were recognized as All-Academic Track and Field Team members by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their athletic and academic achievement during the 2014-15 campaign. Collectively, the men and women each secured their eighth consecutive Division III All-Academic Track & Field team nod for attaining at least a 3.10 GPA.

Three-time honoree Laura Pumphrey was joined by repeat honorees Anne Harris, Liz Pellegrini and Alex Price. Maya Rhinehart and Lea Strangio took home their first citation from the coaches association.

On the men's side, Joey Collins and Austin Holliday collected their first nod since the 2011-12 season while Warren Staver and Andrew Zayac were honored for the first time.

The women touted a 3.40 GPA to place third among participating NEWMAC institutions while the men paced the NEWMAC in addition to boasting the fifth-best GPA in New England.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either of the following athletic standards: competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship and finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 25 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org
