2014 Nov 5

WPI junior Kurt Naugler has been selected once again as a CoSIDA Division III Men's Soccer All-District I honoree, as voted upon by Division III sports information directors from Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Naugler is now on the ballot for Academic All-America consideration. It marks the ninth consecutive year a WPI men's soccer student-athlete has been honored on the district level by the organization.

The mechanical engineering major touts a 3.96 GPA and is a Charles O. Thompson scholar and a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Naugler has been recognized as a Dean's List recipient and is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He will be traveling to Australia to perform his IQP in the spring.

The versatile back is third on the team in goals (4), assists (4) and points (12) while helping the Engineers post 10 shutouts and rank 13th amongst Division III teams in goals against average (0.47). Naugler logged back-to-back game-winning goals against Rhode Island College and Mass. Maritime (double overtime) and notched a third GWG against Salve Regina.

Third-seeded WPI (13-4), currently ranked eighth in both the NSCAA Division III New England Coaches Poll and, more importantly, the NCAA Division III New England Regional Rankings, heads to top-seeded Wheaton on Saturday to face second-seeded Coast Guard in the NEWMAC Men's Soccer Championship semifinals.
