Kristin Olson of San Diego, Calif., Named NEWMAC Academic All-Conference

Kristin Olson has earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale after the 2015 fall semester, achieved second year academic status, and been a member of a spring varsity team for the entire season.

Men's Track and Field accounted for a third of the selections, including four three-time honorees as a total of 48 WPI student-athletes were named Academic All-Conference for the spring season.

Seniors Tobin Dancy, Jacob Mercier, Lucas Roy and Nathan Varney of the men's track and field team were selected for the third consecutive season while classmate Anthony Gallo, along with juniors Brian D'Amore, Nick Dalton, Kyle Morrison and Austin Scott were lauded for the second year. Graduate student Ryan Moran picked up his first conference academic award as did junior Nick Porter and sophomores Jason Bugarin, Jack DeVine, James Doty, Brendan Johnson and Justin Trott.

The women were paced by graduate student Caitlin Walde, as well as seniors Jessica Orr and Liz Pellegrini who earned the award in all three seasons of eligibility as senior Julie Tevenan, and juniors Liz Hansen and Kimberlee Kocienski were repeat choices. Senior Alex Price, junior Elizabeth Walfield were tabbed for the first time along with sophomores Gina Capobianco, Brittney Lambert, Amelia Mattesen, Emily Newman and Lea Strangio.

Baseball seniors Anthony Capuano and DJ Ouellette were also three-year winners and were joined by two-time picks in the form of classmates Vinny D'Ambrosio and John Mulready. Also earning the accolade for the second year were juniors Dan Bettigole and Mike Vaitkunas. CJ Doskocil and Connor Kurtz were named for the first time.

Softball juniors Lindsay Gurska, Caroline Medino and Hope Shevchuk made it 2-for-2 as sophomores Ama Biney, Katie Chagami and RiAnna May are now 1-for-1.

Women's Rowing senior Kristin Olson and juniors Audrey Allen, Jennifer Golden and Victoria Loehle earned the honor for the second consecutive season. Sophomore Rachel Santarsiero was named in her initial season of eligibility.
