John 'Jack' Bauer of Cumberland, R.I., Named NEWMAC Men's Swimmer of the Week

WPI sophomore John 'Jack' Bauer has been selected as the NEWMAC Men's Swimmer of the Week for his performance in Wednesday and Saturday's dual meets.

Bauer averaged two individual and two relay victories in a 3-0 week for the Engineers. He took the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.64) and 200-yard butterfly (1:57.78) and helped the 400-yard medley (3:31.65) and 200-yard freestyle (1:28.37) relays in a sweep of Wheaton and UMass Dartmouth in a mid-week double dual. On Saturday at Hartwick, Bauer claimed the 100-yard backstroke (52.26) and had the quickest time in the 100-yard butterfly (52.18) n addition to aiding the 200-yard medley (1:35.84) and 400-yard freestyle (3:13.76) relay.

It is the second individual accolade for Bauer, who has also been recognized twice as a member of a relay, this season.

The Engineers host Clark for the final dual of the season Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
