Jacob Mercier of Litchfield, N.H., Member of NEWMAC Track and Field Relay Team of the Week

Jacob Mercier was honored as the WPI men's and women's track and field 4x100-meter relay teams swept New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Relay Team of the Week accolades, as announced on Monday.

The men's foursome of sophomore Brian D'Amore, senior Austin Holliday, junior Jacob Mercier and sophomore Hugh Whelan won the 4x100-meter relay by nearly two seconds with a time of 43.85 on Saturday at the Coast Guard Invitational. The seventh best time in Division III New England helped the Engineers capture the overall team title.

The women's quarter of freshman Sara Velleca, junior Liz Pellegrini, junior Alex Price and junior Anne Harris posted a time of 50.05 to capture the 4x100-meter relay by 1.36 seconds en route to the team title at the Coast Guard Invitational on Saturday. The time is currently fourth in Division III New England.
