Jacob Mercier of Litchfield, N.H., Honored as Part of NEWMAC Men's Track & Field Relay Team of the Week

2016 Apr 21

For the second time in three weeks Jacob Mercier and the WPI men's track and field 4x100-meter relay have been named the NEWMAC Relay of the Week.

The quartet of freshman Antoine Harris, sophomore Paul-Henry Schoenhagen, junior Brian D'Amore and senior Jacob Mercier struck gold with a NEWMAC-best 42.75 Saturday in a tri-meet with Coast Guard and host Springfield. The foursome has bettered their time each week and currently leads the NEWMAC and is sixth on the Division III New England Performance List.

In addition to being undefeated this season as part of the relay, D'Amore has also remained perfect in all of his individual events, including the 100 and 200 each of the past two weeks. He also took the 100 in the outdoor opener at Coast Guard.

The track and field teams head to Tufts on Saturday.
