Isabella Garver of Owls Head, Maine, Honored by National Field Hockey Coaches Association

Isabella Garver was one of 14 WPI student-athletes to earn recognition from the NFHCA for their work in the classroom.

Led by Mary-Lee Barboza, who earned a spot on the NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad for the fourth consecutive year and was named a NFHCA Division III Scholars of Distinction for the third time, 14 student-athletes were honored for their work inside the classroom by the coaches association. The Engineers also took home the NFHCA Division III National Academic Team Award for the 11th consecutive season.

Nicole Holmes and Libbi Richardson also made the National Academic Squad each of their four years on Boynton Hill while Hope Shevchuk earned her second Scholar of Distinction nod.

Also claiming National Academic Squad accolades were Allie Buckley, Abby Cervelloni, Rachel Cody, SarahRose Gabor, Isabella Garver, Sabrina Guzzi, Abigail King, Caroline Mazzola, Lauren Puishys, and Shannon Rice.

The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2014-15 academic year while the Scholars of Distinction have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2014-15 academic year.

The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that achieved a minimum Team GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2014-15 academic year.
