Eva Barinelli of Tewksbury, Mass., Named WPI Women's Student-Athlete of the Week

Eva Barinelli and the rest of the WPI Women's Rowing Varsity Eight have been named WPI Female Student-Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, April 23rd.

The ninth-ranked Varsity Eight in Division III consisting of senior Gina Gonzalez-Roundey, freshman Christine Hovermale, junior Jasmine Loukola, junior Sarah Wutka, sophomore Marlies de Jong, sophomore Kinsey McNamara, sophomore Eva Barinelli, senior Jennifer Golden and sophomore coxswain Madison Healey finished a close second to No. 4 Tufts in the Bernie Brown Cup Sunday. The Engineers were edged out of the top spot by 2.12 seconds (6:44.70 to 6:46.82) while they were comfortably in front of No. 10 William Smith, Clark and Skidmore.

The Engineers now prepare for Saturday's NEWMAC Championships, which is hosted this year by Clark, The event features defending national champion and No. 6 Wellesley, No. 9 WPI and Smith, who is receiving votes in the CRCA/USRowing Coaches Poll. The first race is scheduled for 8:30am on Lake Quinsigamond.
