Emily Doherty of Shrewsbury, Mass., Adds NEWISA All-New England Honors to Resume

2014 Dec 16

WPI junior forward Emily Doherty was selected as a New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Division III All-New England Third Team honoree following the 2014 season.

Doherty, a NEWMAC All-Conference First Team selection, led the league in goals (12) and tied for first with 27 points. The co-captain notched game-winners against Southern Maine, Fitchburg State, Framingham State, and Wellesley. She also helped setup the initial tally in the 2-1 overtime win versus Wheaton as the Engineers topped the Lyons for the first time since 1998.

Through three seasons on Boynton Hill, Doherty has tallied 19 goals and eight assists for 46 points in 53 games (51 starts). Her goal total includes six game-winners and three penalty kicks.

WPI posted an 8-7-4 overall record and a 5-2-3 ledger in conference matches in Schafer's second year on Boynton Hill. Over the course of the season, the Engineers defeated Wheaton for the first time since 1998 and enjoyed a program-best five-game unbeaten streak (3-0-2) en route to claiming the fifth seed in the 2014 NEWMAC Women's Soccer Championship.
