Dereck Pacheco of Hyannis, Mass., Named to D3football.com Team of the Week

2016 Oct 31

WPI junior Dereck Pacheco has been tabbed as a member of the D3football.com Team of the Week for the week ending October 23. He named the WPI Men's Student-Athlete of the Week and a Liberty League Honor Roll selection yesterday (Oct. 24).

Pacheco logged 10 tackles, including 2.5 for-loss, a sack and a key safety in the fourth quarter, as WPI reclaimed the Transit Trophy with a 19-7 victory over host RPI Saturday, October 22 in Troy, N.Y.

He joins Jeff Martin and Jason Lamb as the programs only two-time honorees, having earned the accolade for his efforts against Norwich in 2015. The three 2016 selections thus far (Pacheco, Lamb, Blaine Bursey) tie the 1999 team (Martin, Jerome Hunter, Steve Horsman) for most in a season.
