Brendan Marion of Norristown, Pa., Named NWCA Division III Scholar All-American

Brendan Marion has been honored for work on the mat and in the classroom by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.

Senior Ben Zogby, sophomores Chase Lind and Tyler Marsh and freshman Brendan Marion have been tabbed as Division III Scholar All-Americans by the National Wrestling Coaches Association. The Crimson and Gray starting lineup, along with four key reserves, boasted a 3.49 GPA to earn top 30 program accolades for the third straight winter. The Engineers were 11th overall out of over 100 Division III wrestling programs.

Marsh, a mechanical engineering major and repeat honoree, finished second at 157 pounds at the NCAA Northeast regionals and competed in the NCAA Championships this past weekend in Cleveland, OH. The sophomore was 31-5 with 13 pins.

Marion and Zogby were also on the podium at the regionals. Marion, an aerospace engineering major, was fifth at 165 pounds at the regionals. The freshman was 27-6 with nine falls. Zogby closed out his career with a sixth place showing in the regionals at 125 pounds. The chemical engineering major was 20-9 with five pins this season.

Lind competed at both 165 and 174 pounds during his sophomore campaign. The sophomore mechanical engineering major was 17-6 with four falls.

Nominees must have at least a 3.2 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) for the previous full academic year. Transfers and freshmen are eligible if they've been in residence at their current institution beginning in the fall of 2017. On the competition side, wrestlers much be a national qualifier in 2017-18 and have a minimum win percentage of at least .500.

Additionally, wrestlers can also be considered if they placed in the top six at their respective regional tournament, a win percentage of .500 or better and competed in half of the institution's scheduled competition in NCAA championship events. A wrestler can also be considered if they have a win percentage of .670 or better and competed in half of the institution's scheduled NCAA events.
