Andrew Bauer of Cumberland, R.I., Named ECAC Division III New England Co-Swimmer of the Week

WPI sophomore Andrew Bauer has been selected as the ECAC Division III New England Men's Co-Swimmer of the Week.

Bauer, the NEWMAC Men's Swimmer of the Week, guided WPI to its third straight Paul Parenteau trophy in winning the Worcester City Meet. The sophomore took home the Justin Ferris Award as the top male swimmer by winning all three freestyle sprints and taking part in four relay victories. Bauer claimed the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.50, and he followed it up by finishing first in the 100-yard freestyle (48.82) and 200-yard freestyle (1:46.95).

He also swam on the on the school and meet record-breaking 400-yard medley relay team (3:36.13) and was a member of 200-yard freestyle relay (1:29.89), 400-yard freestyle relay (3:18.03) and meet-record-setting 800-yard freestyle relay (7:15.63) that all garnered city championships.

WPI travels to UMass Dartmouth tonight for a 6:30 p.m. double dual with the host Corsairs and conference opponent Wheaton.
