Andrew Bauer of Cumberland, R.I., Member of Honorable Mention All-America 800-Yard Freestyle Relay Team

2015 Mar 23

Andrew Bauer was a member of the WPI men's 800-yard freestyle relay team that finished 16th at the Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in Shenandoah, Texas on Friday.

The 800-yard freestyle relay capped the morning session with a time of 6:46.68, good for eighth; however, because it was a timed final, the quartet of Nathan Hughes, Alex Powers, David Smallwood and Andrew Bauer had to wait until the last race of the evening for their final placing.

Smallwood began the day by clocking a 1:51.20 to finish 23rd overall. Andrew Lybarger had owned the previous 200-yard butterfly record (1:51.55) since 2012.

Powers, meanwhile, finished 35th in the 100-yard backstroke (51.06).
