Andrew Bauer of Cumberland, R.I., Helps WPI Men's 200-Yard Freestyle Relay Finish 17th at NCAA Championships

Andrew Bauer was part of the WPI men's 200-yard freestyle relay team that narrowly missed a spot in Thursday night's finals at the Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in Shenandoah, Texas.

The quartet of Nathan Hughes, Alex Powers, David Smallwood and Andrew Bauer posted a time of 1:23.93 en route to a 17th place finish in the morning preliminaries. The foursome is the first alternate for tonight's finals in case a school is unable to compete.

Thursday also featured a pair of individuals competing for the Engineers. Bauer was the fastest NEWMAC swimmer in the 200-yard freestyle with 26th-place time of 1:40.07 while Smallwood touched the wall in a time of 50.34 to finish 39th in the 100-yard butterfly.
