Ama Biney of Worcester, Mass., Claims D3hoops.com and WACBA Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

WPI junior Ama Biney has garnered another pair of weekly awards as she was named as the Worcester Area College Basketball Association (WACBA) Women's Co-Player of the week and was selected as a member of the D3hoops.com Team of the Week. She shared the WACBA honor with fellow local product Taylor Daniels (Dudley, Mass.), a senior from Nichols.

Biney averaged 20 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and two steals in a 2-0 week for the Engineers. She was all over the court to deliver her first double-double (20pts, 10reb) on 10-of-12 shooting with five assists and three blocks in 29 minutes at Wellesley. Biney followed it up with 18 points, seven boards, and three steals in 30 minutes at Wheaton.

On Monday the guard was tabbed the NEWMAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week, after pocketing the initial Defensive Player of the Week honor week one. Last week's New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Player of the Week was also recognized as a member of the organization's honor roll for the second time this season.

WPI heads to Smith Wednesday for a rematch of last year's NEWMAC Tournament quarterfinal. Tipoff is scheduled for 7pm.

WACBA is an organization billed as "one of its kind in the country" featuring 10 colleges, 20 programs plus sports information directors and media members to foster friendships and camaraderie along with promoting the GREAT GAME OF BASKETBALL throughout the TRADITIION RICH Worcester Country Area.
