Aline Tomasian of Lexington Named 2017-18 Clare Boothe Luce Research Scholar

2017 Mar 27

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) has announced the recipients of the 2017-18 Clare Boothe Luce Research Scholar award. Aline Tomasian of Lexington, Mass., a member of the class of 2018 majoring in physics is one of the eight selected students.

WPI is committed to encouraging and supporting women in fields in which they are traditionally underrepresented. Since its inception in 1989, the Clare Boothe Luce Program has been one of the most significant sources of support for women seeking to study science, engineering, and mathematics. These awards recognize the students' academic accomplishments and provide them with the opportunity to deepen their education by working on a research project in computer science, mathematical sciences, physics, or robotics. Each student will work closely with a Luce faculty mentor throughout the process and a research advisor.

These research awards are made possible through a Clare Boothe Luce Research Scholar grant from the Henry Luce Foundation. WPI's Clare Boothe Luce Research Scholars are selected based on academic excellence and the perceived quality of their proposed research projects, and are mentored by women WPI faculty throughout their research experience.
