from the cross country team has been selected as the WPI Women's Co-Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, November 2nd.

Newman earned NEWMAC Rookie of the Year as the top freshmen finisher at the conference championship at Smith. She covered the course in a time of 19:18 en route to becoming the first WPI Cross Country student-athlete from either gender to earn a major year-end award from the conference. Newman also snapped MIT's streak of seven consecutive rookie of the year awards.
